Akwasi Amponsah, M.D.

Dr. Akwasi Amponsah, M.D. is an Interventional Pain Medicine specialist who received his medical degree from UMDNJ- Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He then completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and his Interventional Pain Management fellowship at the prestigious Manhattan Pain Management Center of Columbia University affiliated St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Amponsah emphasizes on listening and having patience for his patients. He takes pride in accurate and thorough physical examination as a key to diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain syndromes. Using minimally invasive techniques when amenable, Dr. Amponsah treats a wide spectrum of pain syndromes such as chronic neck pain, lower back pain, sciatica, herniated discs (neck or lower back), failed back surgery, diabetic or other peripheral neuropathies, cancer pain, headache, complex regional pain syndromes (including RSD), arthritis, osteoporosis and any type of joint pain.

Dr. Amponsah understands that pain management requires an interdisciplinary approach and is eager to work with his patients’ referring doctors, neurologists and physical therapists to effectively ease the suffering, improve the quality of life of those living with pain and quickly restore them back to health.
