Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder may develop slowly as the joint becomes inflamed, stiff and sometimes immobile. Although it is not known what causes this disorder, it can make every day activities painful and sometimes impossible. Inflammation may cause adhesions to develop on joint surfaces. Another component of frozen shoulder is a decrease in the amount of synovial fluid; essential to joint mobility and health.

Treatment

Physical therapy is vital to enable you to regain joint function and use of your arm. Pain may make physical therapy difficult. When shoulder pain makes it difficult for you to fully participate in physical therapy, a suprascapular nerve block can provide relief and help your therapist to move the shoulder joint. An intra-articular joint injection may be beneficial too. These injections are performed in our office, are relatively painless, and can be quickly administered.
